THAILAND

Thailand is one of the most popular travel destinations for many. From amazing beaches, food and superb activities. And that isn’t all! You can enjoy all of this on a budget.

But, how do you save money going to Thailand on a vacation?

As much as Thailand is fun all season round, it’s much cheaper and tends to have less crowd during the off-peak season. You can enjoy more for less and longer too. Pretty cool, right?

When is Thailand’s low season?

This refers to less busy times in Thailand were fewer tourist is coming in. There are two prominent seasons to consider when traveling to Thailand; the dry and rainy season.

Many travelers tend to travel during the dry seasons where it’s sunny which increases the demand for certain things such as flight and accommodations.

During this time, prices $$$ goes up.

The rainy season in Thailand is from May to October. As much as it may be cheaper to travel during this time, you have people like me who can’t stand heavy rains unless am indoor and chilling.

If you don’t mind then you can work around this time. Sometimes you’ll get rain and sometimes sun or both!

To get the best of both worlds in Thailand then you can think about traveling during the shoulder seasons which is from April to June, September, and October according to Lonely Planet.

The weather will certainly be manageable and prices will still be relatively low.

Also, remember that there are different areas or parts in Thailand that vary in weather so be sure to be on the lookout.

Some popular destinations in Thailand: Bangkok, Phuket, Ko Samui, Phi Phi Islands, Pa Tong and Khao Lak.

HOW TO FIND CHEAP FLIGHTS?

1. Search In Incognito Windows

There’s a myth that says that it’s best to search in private browsing mode to find the lowest prices. I have never done this but it wouldn’t hurt trying.

It is said that because of the cookies in your browser, the price of flight may increase especially if you search more than once for the same flight. I guess it’s a marketing strategy to get you to purchase real quick.

As much as I never tested this before but as a blogger who has been in the Internet Marketing industry for some time, I can say it’s 100% possible.

2. Buy Airplane Ticket 2 Months Before

Yes, if you are planning on taking a vacation then you may need to book your airplane ticket like at least 8 weeks early.

Doing it at the last minute will cause you to spend more than you should.

And hey, we trying to save here.

This is very important, especially if traveling during peak times within a country.

So, it’s important to start planning your vacations and budgeting beforehand to make maximum use of this option.

3. Check Out Skyscanner

If you’re looking for ways to cut airlines ticket then you need to use quality flight search engines.

I used to just plug in something in to google and maybe go with what they recommend.

Yeah, I know, not such a good idea. My favorite flight search engine would be Skyscanner because of how reliable it is.

Other airfare travel search engines include Kayak, and Momondo. These will help you find some amazing deals for your next flight.

4. Travel Off-Season and Choose Dates Wisely

When traveling, you have to think about the best time to travel as prices can vary.

You may want to avoid major holidays and when a ton of people are traveling. Why? Think about it, in countries that are super cold or has winter people tend to travel to somewhere warmer.

The summer tends to be the time you find many people traveling as kids are out of school. I mean you still travel, but tickets gonna cost you more.

But if you’re in the business of saving then I recommend doing it during the offseason.

I gave some examples of the best countries to travel on a budget and how to cut prices even more by traveling during the low seasons above.

5. Travel Light

I wish I knew this a way lot sooner. I remember the first time I travel, I carried all my best outfits. One for every occasion.

Hahaha… Silly me :joy:

You don’t need a lot of clothes when traveling!

That day was the most tiresome and embarrassing moment with that hefty luggage and bags. I even carried more stuff than I should and end up paying more money.

Simplicity goes a long way and there is a possibility that you don’t need many items anyways.

So if you want to have a relaxing and stress-free trip then do it lightly. No need to worry if you’re carrying too much stuff.

6. Try Airbnb and Couchsurfing

Instead of blowing up your money on hotel fees in just a couple of days, check out these awesome ideas.

For instance, with Couchsurfing, you can get FREE accommodation.

Basically, this method allows you to meet people or stay with locals and learn about different cultures.

I believe you’ll get around better when having a local buddy to ask questions and learn from.

You do need to sign up on Couchsurfing to begin.

For Airbnb, you’ll save more money and you’ll get an entire house for yourself. This is perfect for those who are traveling with kids.

7. Budget

This supposed to be the first tip because the only way you can truly save money while traveling is by budgeting.

This will allow you to know if you need to start a sinking fund to finance your trip.

Some questions that you need to ask yourself before traveling includes:

How much money do I to travel?

Which country or destinations fit my budget?

How much money do I have for local daily spending?

From there on, you’ll know how to adjust your finance.

Okay, okay… The big question.
